A COLLISION between a taxi and a Toyota Tazz left one dead and several others injured on Saturday morning in Richards Bay.
The vehicles were travelling on Bullion Boulevard near the Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre at around 10.30am when tragedy struck.
On impact the taxi overturned and some of the passengers were flung out. The Toyota Tazz was badly smashed on the passenger side and the ‘jaws of life’ had to be used to extricate the patient.
Despite the extreme efforts of the paramedics, the victim succumbed to her injuries and died on the scene. The other patients who were transported to hospital suffered minor and serious injuries.
The cause of the accident is not confirmed.
