Election day killer appears in court

ANC and IFP members picketed outside KwaDukuza Regional Court yesterday when the man accused of shooting ANC volunteer, Thandi Nuh Mhlongo appeared in court.

30-year old Mhlongo, a Ward 5 volunteer, was killed at the ANC information desk, outside the Lindelani voting station on 7 May.

Dumisani Nxumalo made his first appearance in court where the case was postponed to 19 May for his legal representation and bail application.

KwaDukuza Mayor Ricardo Mthembu, welcomed the action taken by police in Nxumalo’s arrest in Pongola over the weekend.

The memorial service for Mlongo will be held at the Lindelani Community Hall on Thursday, 15 May at 2pm.

The funeral service will take place in Lindelani Sportsfield on Saturday, 17 May.
