MOTORISTS travelling through Melmoth can expect delays as rehabilitation on the main through route (P47/3) is expected to get underway on Wednesday.
The section of road affected will be from the Rheinhold Street turnoff (near Melmoth Rugby Club) through to Downing Street at the bottom of the hill.
The section of road has, over the years, been badly damaged by the increased heavy duty traffic passing through the town.
Articulated vehicles will be subjected to 20 minute ‘stop/go’ controls, while light vehicles will be diverted along Rheinhold Street into Symonds Road through the town.
Authorities are calling on motorists to be patient during the road works.
The first phase of 1.6km is expected to take six months to complete.
