St Catherine's teachers received numerous awards at Thursday's Ngwelezane Circuit Excellence Awards Ceremony including Chanssa Cobett, Zeldine Viljoen and Elsabê Erasmus
TEACHERS who, on a daily basis, dedicate their time and effort, moulding young minds and creating future leaders, were put in the limelight on Thursday at the Ngwelelzane Circuit Annual Awards Ceremony.
The ceremony, held at St Catherine’s School, was attended by numerous teachers from 40 primary and high schools.
Awards for academic achievements, cultural excellence and sporting accomplishments were given to schools, as a whole, as well as individual teachers.
St Catherine’s School choir opened proceedings with a rendition of ‘To God Be The Glory’ followed by dedication prayer by Pastor Mlangeni in which he prayed for teachers and blessed them for the invaluable job they are doing for the youth and country.
Ngwelezane District Director, Mr D Chonco thanked the teachers for their hard work and dedication, through some rather challenging times and situations. He also stressed that teachers in South Africa must not become lethargic and must maintain their passion for teaching excellence.
The event was declared a great success by Chairperson of Cultural Committee, Mr Strydom and he encouraged teachers to motivate and support one another to keep raising the level of education in the country.

Khombindlela High School staff received a number of awards – B Sithole, S Mkhwanazi, B Ngobese, B Mathaba, T Mjadu, N Mbatha and S Mkhwamubi
St Catherine’s Headmistress Vanessa Janse van Rensburg received a special award for the school’s 100% matric pass rate, a feat achieved for the past 28 years
