Local toll tariff increases

At trip in a car from Empangeni to Durban will now cost R53.50.

NATIONAL toll fees will increase on all South African roads from Saturday.

The cost of a single trip in a light motor vehicle from Empangeni to Durban will now be R53.50 (R8.50 at Tongaat, R10 at Mvoti and R35 at Mtunzini).

Heavy duty vehicles with five or more axles will pay an extra R10 per trip. The new fees will be R34 at Tongaat, R58 at Mvoti and R120 at Mtunzini.

The south ramp at Mtunzini has increased to R29 while the north ramp will cost at R6.50 for light vehicles.

The Dokodweni ramp increases by 50c to R14.50 while at Mandeni the toll stays at R5.50.

Motorists turning off at Tongaat will pay R4.50 at both ramps, an increase of 50c.

Heavy vehicles will pay R95 and R25 at the south and north ramps at Mtunzini and R47 at Dokodweni.

The Mariannhill toll between Durban and Pietermaritzburg has been increased by 50c to R9 for light vehicles and by R2 to R32 for heavy-duty vehicles.

The King Shaka Airport toll stays at R4.50 for light vehicles and increases by R1 to R19 for the heavies.

This annual adjustment is effective on all national toll routes in the country.

The tariffs are adjusted in accordance with the preceding 12 month Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Frequent road users and motorists living in the vicinity of toll plazas are encouraged to ask what discounts are available.
