Fuel price increases

Another fuel hike for motorists.

Motorists will have to dig deeper into their pockets as the price of fuel goes up tonight.

The expected national increase will be 31 cents a litre for petrol and 14 cents for diesel.

This month’s increase follows two months of decreases.

According to Jackson’s Convenience Centre’s (Engen) Samantha Blaylock, the price hikes should come to 29 cents for petrol and 14 cents for diesel in uMhlathuze, but may vary in various towns.

‘The prices are slightly lower in towns closer to Durban and slightly higher toward Pongola,’ she said.

A litre of petrol will now cost R14.11 from the previous R13.80 and diesel increases from R13.78 to R13.92

The Energy Department said the increase is influenced by changes in international factors, namely the crude oil price and the Rand/Dollar exchange rate.
