Man arrested for Pongola toddler’s murder

UPDATE: The plot thickens in the Pongola murder case.

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of four-year-old Lungisani ‘Kiki’ Ntuli, whose remains were found in a plastic bag at a church in Pongola last month.

The 23-year-old man was arrested after he was allegedly identified by some children in the community.

He was apprehended on Thursday and will appear in the Pongola Magistrate’s Court.

A pastor of the St John’s Church was initially arrested for Ntuli’s murder. He was later released without being charged.

In a bizarre twist in the story, the pastor was found in the boot of his car on Thursday near Vryheid.

Police said it appeared he had been in the boot for several days. He was not bound or gagged.

Police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said they were waiting for him to recover so he could explain.
