A NIGHT out on the town turned sour after Lungelo Mzimela (17) was beaten to death at the popular SSS Tavern in Ngwelezane B section last December.
Last week, tavern bouncer Prosecutor Mthembu (28) appeared at Empangeni Magistrate’s Court where he was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for the murder of Mzimela. He will serve his sentence at Qalakabusha Correctional Services.
According to court reports, it was alleged that Mzimela had stolen alcohol from the tavern and made his way to a neighbouring pub.
Mthembu followed and confronted Mzimela then physically dragged him back to the tavern where he proceeded to assault Mzimela.
Post mortem results revealed Mzimela sustained severe and serious internal injuries to his lungs and liver.
