Businessman charged with murder conspiracy

Eshowe businessman granted R1 500 bail.

A WELL-KNOWN eShowe community member and businessman, Trevor Mellis (54), appeared in the eShowe Magistrate’s Court on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

His co-accused, Mthokozizi Mduduzi Zikhali (29), alleges he was hired by Mellis to kill Skhumbuzo Dumisa, a former employee of Mellis.

The case was transferred to the Inkhanyezi Magistrate’s Court as both magistrates from the eShowe Court had to recuse themselves as Mellis and his family are well-known to them.

The accused appeared in court this morning for a bail application. Mellis was granted R1 500 bail and Zikhali R500. The case was postponed to 26 November.
