Thugs target ATM in butchery

Criminals got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

POLICE are investigating an ATM robbery at an eSikhaleni butchery on Wednesday night.

Intokozo Butchery staff discover the shop had been broken into during the night when they reported for work yesterday.

They noticed broken glass on the floor and the ATM machine had been vandalised.

According to the police, perpetrators jumped over the building’s fence, broke the back window and bent the burglar guards.

An angle grinder was used to slice through the ATM machine.

The butchery night guard told the police he didn’t notice or hear anything during the night.

eSikhawini police spokesperson, Lt Thembinkosi Mkhumane, said the criminals got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The case has been transferred to the Richards Bay Organised Crime Unit.
