Taxi boss dies in ambush

Mandeni taxi owner Sizwe Khumalo gunned down in Nyoni.

MANDENI taxi owner Sizwe Khumalo died in hospital on Friday evening after being shot while travelling to Nyoni to discuss the ongoing taxi violence in the area.

He died of head wounds after being shot at around 12.30pm.

It appears that Khumalo was invited to a meeting in Nyoni when he was lured into an ambush set up near the Isithebe Clinic.

There has been ongoing tensions between the Nyoni and Mandeni Taxi Associations.

A case of attempted murder, which has been changed to murder, is being investigated by the provincial taxi task team.

It is believed that a suspect has been identified, but not yet arrested.
