Taylor to burn rubber at Dice4DICE

LOCAL racer Charl Taylor will be burning rubber at this weekend’s Dice4DICE in more than one way.

He will be entertaining the crowds with his spinning skills as he throws his R34 Skyline and box-shaped BMW around in the Umfolozi Casino’s parking area, and he will also be one of the top contenders in Sunday’s autocross event.

Talking to Charl between all the cars in the Taylor Concepts workshop in Paseta Parade, it’s obvious that the man has a passion for cars and racing them.

‘I started racing at illegal drag events some years ago but now I only participate in legal events,’ says Charl.

‘In 2008 I raced in the VW Polo Cup and later also got involved with oval track racing.

‘Currently I’m taking part in circuit racing which means I have to travel to Gauteng a lot because most of the events are held upcountry,’ he says.

Cars and racing are what drives the Taylor family and between Charl and his father they have 17 cars.

At last year’s Dice4Dice he managed to take second place in the autocross for front-wheel drive cars, but this year, he says, he’s chances are much better in a Mitsubishi Evo.

‘The track in the casino’s parking lot favours smaller all-wheel drive cars, so this year in the Evo I think I stand a good chance to win,’ he says.

The 2015 Dice4DICE is happening this weekend, 15 and 16 August at the Umfolozi Casino Resort in Empangeni.

There will be many supercars and muscle cars on display.

The Dodge Challenger SRT8 is a must see for every car lover because there are only a handful of these beasts in SA.
