WI supports hospital mums

Caring WI ladies knit for needy babies.

THERE are a number of babies born each month to mothers who are not able to provide any clothing for their new arrivals.

They often take them home wrapped in material cut off from their own clothing, or in newspaper.

With this miserable fact tugging at their heartstrings, ladies of the Zululand Group of the Women’s Institute (WI) decided to make a difference.

They have been knitting ‘Mother Theresa Jumpers’ for the tiny babies, complete with little beanies, and donating them to the Lower Umfolozi War Memorial Hospital.

Members of Umsebe WI and friends in eShowe, as well as ladies from the Richards Bay WI, have supported the knitting cause, bringing joy and relief to many.
