Thorny problem for lion king

This game park visitor watched in amazement as a lion attempted to pull a thorn from his paw.

EVEN the king of the beasts has his problems, as Richards Bay resident Theuns Germishuys can attest.

‘I visited Imfolozi Game Reserve on Saturday and spend a few hours watching a Lion who was lying underneath a tree.

‘After being pestered by flies he decided to get up and walk to a different spot.

‘On his way there he stepped onto one of the large acacia tree thorns and collapsed in pain on the spot,’ says Theuns.

‘I could literally hear him go #$%&^ !

‘Thereafter he spent a good 15 minutes trying to get the thorn from his paw.

‘It’s ironic to see a majestic male lion being brought down to his haunches by something as small as a thorn….it just shows you, nobody is invincible!’
