Four die in N2 pile-up

Police are looking for those responsible for starting a fire alongside the N2, which was the cause of a fatal crash near Mtubatuba.

FOUR people lost their lives in a horrific accident involving three trucks and five cars on the N2 near Mtubatuba on yesterday afternoon.

The accident occurred at lunch time, about 10km north of Mtubatuba, causing the N2 to be closed while emergency services and police treated the injured and sorted through the wreckages.

According to Mtubatuba Station Commander, Colonel Mngomezulu, diminished visibility from a fire on open land alongside the N2 was the cause of the accident.

Police investigations will extend to locating the people responsible for starting the fire.

Four people were declared dead at the scene and seven injured were transported to Hlabisa Hospital for treatment.
