Child killed after wall collapses
The child had died by the time he was freed from the rubble.
MTUBATUBA police have opened an inquest into the death of a five-year-old child at Shikishela Reserve near Mtubatuba.
According to the police report, the child was playing outside with other children when the wall of a partially constructed house fell on top of him.
The child’s mother told police she was inside their house doing housework when she heard the child screaming.
She immediately rushed outside and found the wall on top of the child.
Along with some neighbours, she tried to free her child from underneath the rubble, but he had already died.
