THREE armed robbers have taken a number of people hostage at a cash loan business in Mkuze.
According to Warrant Officer Zwelisha Gumbi of Mkuze SAPS, staff contacted the police a short while ago to report an armed robbery.
‘Our police officers rushed to the BSS Loans office, where a shootout with the suspects ensued,’ said W/O Gumbi.
He said that one suspect had been wounded in the shootout, while the remaining two suspects barricaded themselves inside the office with staff and a number of clients.
It is unclear how many people are being held hostage at this point.
W/O Gumbi confirmed that a hostage negotiator was on his way to speak with the suspects.
