UPDATE: Man gets 8 years for eShowe attempted murders

Accomplice pleads guilty in eShowe Magistrate's Court.

MURDER accused Mthokozizi Mduduzi Zikhali (29), who alleged he was hired by eShowe businessman Trevor Mellis (54) to kill Skhumbuzo Dumisa, pleaded guilty to attempted murder yesterday in the Inkanyezi Regional Court in eShowe.

He was sentenced to eight years imprisonment.

He told the court he had received R40 000 in cash from Mellis as payment for the murder of Dumisa.

Well-known community member Mellis (54) first appeared in the eShowe Magistrate’s Court on 28 October last year on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

His case has been postponed to 6 October and will be heard in the eShowe Regional Court.

It is alleged that Dumisa was suing Mellis for a large sum of money.

He was found alive by police officers in the early hours of Saturday, 26 October near Rutledge Park Dam, where he was left for dead by Zikhali.
