Pet owners must take fireworks precaution
The SPCA will be on call during the festivities and if you have an animal related emergency

CELEBRATING New Year is for most an evening of revelry as friends and family come together for a brew, a meal and a good time.
Sadly, our four-legged friends are often forgotten in the whirlwind of partying.
‘There is no way anyone is going to totally stop the fireworks, but we can be prepared,’ said Empangeni SPCA Senior Inspector, Roland Fivaz.
’We ask pet owners to take the necessary precautions though. Get tranquilisers from your local vet and keep your animals indoors.
The SPCA will be on call during the festivities and if you have an animal related emergency, contact 073 5514564 in Richards Bay and 083 4823866 in Empangeni.
If you are planning on setting off any fireworks, you are also reminded that drought conditions are still severe, and to avoid causing fires at all costs.
