Unizulu exposes bogus varsity organisation

The SAPS Crime Intelligence unit is investigating the case

THE University of Zululand (UNIZULU) issued a statement on Tuesday distancing itself from an organization calling itself Varsity Foundation.

The statement stated that Varsity Foundation fraudulently claimed to be associated with UNIZULU in its posters, which reads ‘Upgrade your matric with Varsity Foundation at the University of Zululand, a programme designed for all those seeking to improve their results’.

‘The University of Zululand Management wishes to state categorically and unequivocally that the institution has nothing to do with this organisation and that any claims of association with the University are fraudulent,’ read the statement

‘The University of Zululand views this in a very serious light. It is a distasteful attempt to use the name of the University to dupe desperate students, and parents into parting with their hard-earned cash’.
As soon as the scam was brought to its attention, UNIZULU management approached the SAPS Crime Intelligence unit to put a stop to this misleading criminal activity, and pledged its full cooperation with police to ensure that the perpetrators behind the scam were brought to book.

The University encourages students not to deposit any monies to the unrecognised Varsity Foundation and to report any suspicious activity to their Protective Services Department on: 035 902 6598.
