UPDATE: Alkantstrand beach takes another battering

SPRING tides took another big bite out of the dune barrier at Alkantstrand this week as coastal erosion left its mark.

In the first video below, the defensive geobag wall at Alkantstrand easily absorbs the force of the incoming waves.

However, the relentless wave action continually eats away at the base of the dune barrier, until the top collapses – bringing with it tree, fences, a-frames and beach amenities.
