New addition to CANSA family

A new volunteer has been welcomed into the Helen Ludwig Cansa House in Empangeni

PASSIONATE about making a difference in the lives of cancer sufferers, Mtubatuba resident Thabo Buthelezi is settling into her new role as full-time volunteer at the Helen Ludwig CANSA House in Empangeni.

Arriving in January, Buthelezi was welcomed with open arms by CANSA community mobiliser Lizelle van Zyl and Sister Sanelisiwe Mahlangu.

Now a permanent resident at the House, Buthelezi takes her role as volunteer very seriously and assists with a number of duties, including organising campaigns and working with live-in patients.

Apart from her love of helping others, Buthelezi understands the difficult journey cancer patients go through after losing her mother to cancer some years ago.

Inspired by her mother, she hopes to continue her work at CANSA and branch into different fields in the organisation following the completion of her marketing degree through Varsity College.

‘I also want to educate the people of Mtubatuba about cancer and what can be done to assist them,’ Buhtelezi says.
