Mother gunned down in front of children
Police are on the hunt for the gunman who shot a mother in front of her children in Mtubatuba
ON Sunday night a Mtubatuba mother of two was shot dead and her young child injured.
No motive has been established nor any suspects arrested.
The incident occurred at about 8pm when the victim, Shongaziphi Khumalo, along with her six-year-old and six-month-old children was driving in KwaMtholo reserve, Mtubatuba.
According to the police report, Khumalo was attacked by an unknown suspect who fired several shots.
She sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the back and buttocks and died on scene.
The six-year-old was shot once in the right arm while the six-month-old was uninjured.
Sixteen empty cartridges were found at the scene.
The injured child was taken to KwaMsane clinic for treatment.
KwaMsane SAPS is investigating a case of murder but are yet to make an arrest.
