The power of healing

Amangwe Village and the Richards Bay Rotary Club visit wheelchair patient

AMANGWE Village representatives paid a visit to home based caregiver Zandile Mlambo last week where one of her patients, who recently received a wheelchair from Amangwe Village and the Richards Bay Rotary Club, was found to have made a miraculous recovery.

Zamani Shezi of Oshwashweni developed a deep sore in his ankle in 2014 which quickly worsened over time.

Soon he was unable to walk and required the use of a wheelchair.

Following the generous donation, his carer, Zandile, began treating his wound under the guidance of Amangwe Village Home Based Care Coordinator Amose, with a homemade medicinal cream.

The medicinal cream was made from a variety of plants and herbs from the Amangwe Village garden, after Amose was introduced to the concept by medical ethno-botanist, author and botany researcher at the University of Zululand, Anne Hutchings.

To their surprise, Zamani’s ulcerated ankle began to heal and he is now on the road to recovery.

Before leaving, Zamani requested that his wheelchair be passed on to someone who could benefit from it as much as he had.
