BREAKING: Water shutdown in the City (2016)

City of uMhlathuze will cut the night-time supply of water to all urban households from 8pm to 5am.

AS of Thursday, the City of uMhlathuze will cut the night-time supply of water to all urban households from 8pm to 5am.

Rural homes will be cut from 8pm to 4am and commercial properties from 10pm to 6am.

Although the threat of water restrictions has been increasingly on the cards as the drought’s grip progresses, the announcement by the City this afternoon (Wednesday) will come as a major shock to residents, who will now have to re-plan their evening and early morning water usage habits.

In addition, the City has with immediate effect proclaimed significant water pressure controls, as follows:

Urban households – 50% pressure reduction 5am – 7am and 4pm – 8pm; 25% pressure reduction 7am – 4pm.

Rural households – 50% pressure reduction 4am – 8am and 4pm – 8pm; 25% pressure reduction 8am – 4pm.

Commercial – 50% pressure reduction 7am – 10pm.
