Call for action against parking lot parties
Partygoers continue to wreak havoc in the 5Ways Mall parking lot after hours

EMPANGENI residents are at their wit’s end following years of late night disruptions by unruly, intoxicated people at the Five Ways Mall parking lot.
According to irate residents in the area, the ongoing late night partying is proving to be a never ending story and despite efforts to take action, their pleas are falling on deaf ears.
‘This has been going on for more than two years and we are subjected to loud music, revving cars and vulgar language every night,’ said an angry resident.
‘We have signed petitions, but no matter what we do, the problem is never solved.’
Linked to the Waves Sports Café, management at Wave said when they host big events and large crowds are expected, SAPS is informed to prevent unruly behaviour.
‘After receiving a number of complaints we hired Alpha Alert of Security Group to patrol the parking lot every Friday and Saturday night,’
Although it draws much attention, those taking the party downstairs to the parking lot are not affiliated with the club.
Despite the club’s efforts to resolve the issue and the fact that the Five Ways Mall parking lot is private property, people continue to use it for social gatherings.
Decisions on the next steps needed to be taken are now being made, in addition to the weekend security patrols.
Residents in the area are encouraged to assist the centre with information about reckless activities and personal encounters with those wreaking havoc in the parking lot after hours.
