King’s praise for water angels
To date more than one million litres of water has been brought to communities
KING Goodwill Zwelithini showered praise on Gift of the Givers volunteers for their role in offering support to those suffering in the drought conditions.
Speaking at the Owen Sitole College of Agriculture‘s graduation ceremony last week, Zwelithini said, ‘Their have brought about much needed relief to my communities already facing other hardship and social ills.
To date, Gift of the Givers has transported almost 2.5 million litres of bottled water to areas in dire need in a determined effort to reach out to the needy.
People on the receiving end rejoiced as huge vehicles carrying tons of water arrived into their areas with short-term relief.
As a long-term solution, they pledged their support to uThungulu residents by supplying eight boreholes at community schools.
Gift of the Givers Zululand Coordinator, Rhana Naicker – who is also CEO of the King’s Bayede Foundation – said that Zululand alone has been the recipient of over a million litres of water through the Gift of the Givers
Naicker thanked each person who had donated bottled water to those in need, and urged local business to heed the call to action and assist the Foundation and local authorities in drilling and constructing boreholes.
