MEC dishes out warning to illegal protesters

During a Budget speech, KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu, warns illegal protesters

KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu has issued a stern warning to those mobilising illegal protests adding that government would take necessary action against them.

Mchunu made the comments while presenting the 2016/2017 budget for his department last week.

He said protests must be authorised and those involved must be unarmed.

‘Armed protesters break the law, and it is a violation of other people’s rights and peace. All marches must be conducted according to the Bill of Rights and road rules,’ he said.

The MEC said violence was unacceptable and said those involved in illegal and violence protests would face the full might of the law.
