The new face of road safety awareness

Zakhele Mapondo known as Skhaleni will spread the road safety message through of SA

TOP actor Zakhele Mapondo known as Skhaleni on the Mzansi Magic telenovela Isibaya, recently joined the local Road Safety Awareness drive.

Last Sunday, Mapondo became part of the Taxi Drivers Awards, and a member of the North Coast Group (NCG) – a unit spearheading the campaign.

In the soapie, Mapondo plays a role of a funny and sensitive taxi driver.

He will use his celebrity status to spread the positive message of road safety and promote the national taxi awards.

‘We are fortunate to have him as part of this campaign, and we hope other public figures can also see the potential and join the movement,’ said NCG chairperson, Lindiwe Dube.

The Road Safety Awareness and Taxi Drivers Awards campaigns were initiated by NCG last year, with hope of improving professionalism and to recognise hard working individuals within the industry.

It has grown from strength to strength – awarding taxi drivers, owners and rank managers for their hard work and dedication to the industry.
