Tributes pour in for Tristan

The young boy was diagnosed in October and a group was created on social media site, Facebook - 'A Prayer for Tristan' to follow his journey and keep him in prayer.

MESSAGES of support have flooded in for the family of Arboretum Primary School pupil, Tristan Nel who died last week after a battle with lymphoma cancer.

The young boy was diagnosed in October and a group was created on social media site, Facebook – ‘A Prayer for Tristan’ to follow his journey and keep him in prayer.

The young boy brought hundreds of people to their knees in prayer and tributes have continued to pour in on Facebook where over 2 700 people have been following his journey.

On Friday, Grade 6 and 7 pupils of Arboretum Primary visited the Richards Bay Medical Institute for an educational tour.

The teachers organised the visit to allay pupils’ fear of hospitals and for them to learn more about cancer and especially the condition with which their fellow classmate and friend was diagnosed.

Teacher Monica du Plessis said the school, pupils and community were deeply saddened by Tristan’s passing.

The pupils and teachers released lime green balloons in memory of Tristan as lime green is the colour that represents lymphoma cancer awareness.
