CRG beefs up security

According to one of the officers present at the time, the large herd was found grazing in the greenbelt area near the Kildare Café.

SECURITY company Control Risks Group went above and beyond the call of duty on Monday morning, when they tackled a herd of around 50 cattle moving up President Swart street in Empangeni.

According to one of the officers present at the time, the large herd was found grazing in the greenbelt area near the Kildare Café.

Security guards investigated but found no one tending to the cattle.

With assistance from municipal traffic officers, the cattle were herded up President Swart and into municipal ground out of town.

The movement was conducted with some difficulty but fortunately without incident.

‘This problem has again shown us why it is important a fully fledged municipal pound, capable of dealing with such a large problem, is necessary,’ said the officer, who did not wish to be named.
