ADDRESSING party agents and volunteers at a meeting held at eSikhaleni Public Library Hall recently, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) warned the ruling party that it is ready to control uThungulu District after the upcoming local government elections.
About 50 EFF workers from different wards within uThungulu attended the closed meeting, to hear about the party’s state of readiness as it prepares to contest the upcoming elections.
EFF uThungulu Region Secretary Nkululeko Ngubane said many African National Congress leaders within the district have told him the ANC is in tatters.
‘Some ANC members within uThungulu have given up hope of their organisation’s continued hold on power in the region.
‘I assure you freedom fighters: eSikhaleni and eNseleni are already gone to the EFF.
‘We have garnered much support in these areas, we are sure come August elections, people will vote for us in large numbers,’ a jubilant Ngubane said.
Turning his attention to the State President, Ngubane said, ‘Zuma has become a liability. I instruct all of you, whenever you come across Zuma, ask him when is he paying back the money, and when is he resigning?’
He further said after paying back the money, the EFF will then throw Zuma into prison, ‘where he belongs’.
EFF’s Provincial Secretary Rebecca Mohlala emphasised the importance of going back to the branches and mobilising for more party support.
‘As the EFF we promise to be transparent with ward councilors’ and PR councilors’ nominations. We will enforce our gender-based policy, whereby gender will be balanced when nominating councilors.
‘Our leaders will be elected democratically,’ Mohlala added.
