New deadline for Marine Protected Areas

MEMBERS of the public have now got until 17 May to submit comments about the proposed Marine Protected Areas (MPA), as confirmed by Department of Environmental Affairs.

The MPA Information Centre in Cape Town on Friday said the deadline date had been reset from 3 to 17 May as one Government Gazette had delayed its publishing of the proposed plans.

To ensure the same deadline for everyone, the decision was taken to issue the final cut-off date of 17 May. Written representations can be emailed to MPARegs@environment.gov.za before this date.
