well known and much loved Rani Govender passed away peacefully on Monday

1952 ­– 2016

THE well known and much loved Rani Govender passed away peacefully on Monday, 16 May in Empangeni.
Rani’s unconditional love and loyalty, strength of character and high moral standards positively influenced her family, friends, colleagues and business acquaintances.
Born in Darnall, Stanger, she was the eldest daughter of Dharma and Kamachie Moodley and from a young age took on the responsibility of raising her siblings.
Sharing 47 years of marriage with Rennie Govender, she was a loving wife and mother and served her family with a pure matriarchal love and authority.
Her children described her as strong-willed, gracious, live wire, bubbly, colourful, full of spirit, eternally optimistic and a joy to be around.
She was also an accomplished businesswoman and entrepreneur, who ran many successful businesses. She ended her career as a Regional Manager with Pres Les.
Rani was a stalwart in the Christian faith, playing an active leadership and support role in the local and international community.
She extended her reach to the body of Christ in countries like Mozambique, Swaziland and India.
Her passion for Christ was undeniable and displayed through her support for the 10/40 window.
To this effect, her last project included financial contribution for identified projects spearheaded by Word Evangelism Ministries.
She epitomised sacrifice and compassion, leaving behind a lasting legacy for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Rennie, children – Verna, Nivien, Voughn and Ryan, sons-in-law – Mahen and Rodney, daughter-in-law Vani and grandchildren – Vernesha, Manesha, Jared, Lauryn, Haydn, Josh and Luke, and grandson-in-law Marvin.
The celebration of her life will be held at Solid Ground Church, Empangeni on Saturday, 21 May at 12pm followed by the cremation at the Stanger Crematorium at 3pm.
