‘We will defend our property’ – ANC

‘No EFF member died at eSikhaleni, only ANC members,’ said Gwala.

THE African National Congress Musa Dladla Region vowed to protect their ‘organisational property’ ahead of a visit by Econimic Freedom Fighters president Julius Malema.
Malema is scheduled to hold a rally at the eSikhaleni Mall on Saturday morning and pay a visit to the ANC Memorial Arch.
The announcement comes in the wake of media reports claiming the EFF members were planning to destroy the monument erected in honour of ANC members killed during the Apartheid struggle.
After the conclusion of an ANC Musa Dladla Regional Executive Committee meeting, Regional Secretary Tholi Gwala on Wednesday issued a statement saying the ANC had ‘noted media reports about one EFF leader who is said to visit eSikhaleni this weekend and their visit to the memorial arch’.
According to the statement, the committee resolved that the ANC had no problem with any party visiting any area, but warned against misbehaviour and resolved to defend the memorial arch purely because it is the property of the organisation.
‘No EFF member died at eSikhaleni, only ANC members,’ said Gwala.
‘We have no problem with people feeling nostalgic, but they should not tamper with organisational material.
‘If there are any members of the EFF that miss the ANC or want to join us, they must seek membership forms.’
