Municipal councillor’s house gutted

THERE have been no arrests, nor any leads relating to the arson attack in which a KwaMbonambi-based councillor’s house was gutted and her vehicle destroyed.
The incident occurred at about 10pm last Wednesday while councillor Zandile Mhlongo and her daughter were asleep at their home near KwaMbonambi.
‘Mhlongo woke up after the fire had started and managed to escape with her daughter through a window, as all the doors were locked,’ said Lieutenant Mthethwa, Communications Officer at KwaMbonambi SAPS. ‘Both are traumatised and do not know who would have committed the crime, or why.’
KwaMbonambi SAPS are investigating a case of arson.
