End of KwaDube Village flooding in sight

Removed storm drainage system to be restored in KwaDube area

FLOODED homes will soon be a thing of the past for the KwaDube Village community.

The construction of the D88 road from eSikhaleni to eMpembeni will soon provide homeowners relief and prevent their homes from being flooded during the rainy season.

Residents have in the past complained about construction workers who apparently removed the storm water drainage system.

‘During heavy rains we suffer because there is no system to control the water flow,’ they said.

However, since a new company took over the construction, residents are optimistic about the future.

‘We can see that they are working hard in replacing pipes and establishing a pavement for pedestrians. This makes us happy because at least now we won’t suffer from floods,’ said homeowner Thoko Ntuli.

Even though the construction was temporally shut down owing to a community dispute last week, area iNduna Patrick Shazi said work has now resumed.

‘Even though there are some people who are still experiencing floods, the situation should be back to normal in no time because we can see the contractor is working hard,’ said Shazi.
