Voting stations for Local Government Elections

WHEN voters head for the polls on the 3 August for the 2016 Local Government Elections they will have to cast their ballots in the voting district where they are registered.

If a voter is outside their district on election day, they will not be eligible to vote.

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will be using an e-ziskan machine on election day, which is programmed to prevent registration of voters on election day.

The entire voters’ roll is electronically loaded on the e-ziskan and the voter’s identity document will be scanned to determine if and where the voter is registered.

Even if the e-ziskan fails to operate, the hard copy of the voters’ roll is the final verification method that the voter is registered in that voting district or not.
