Search for missing woman continues

Adri has been inundated with calls and messages from community members who believed they had seen her.

INITIAL sightings of a missing Richards Bay woman, Maritza Pieterse (34), proved to be a case of mistaken identity and the search continues for the young woman who was last seen in March this year.

According to Maritza’s mother Adri, soon after news of her disappearance went viral on social media and published in the Eyethu Bay Watch this week, she was inundated with calls and messages from community members who believed they had seen her.

‘Callers said they had seen her in the Meerensee area, but we later discovered that there is another woman who resembles Maritza and is usually seen in the vicinity of the NG Church in Meerensee.

‘While we have not found Mariza yet, we are so grateful for all the information and leads we received and have been following up on them.

‘I appeal to anyone who comes into contact with her to please take a photo of her and send it to me so that we can make a positive identification.

‘I cannot believe that she would break contact with us for four months.

‘While she did not live with us, she would always come to visit or give me a call so that we knew she was okay.
‘We are worried because she has simply vanished,’ said Pieterse.

Anyone with information can contact Adri on 081 5297706.
