Beers scavenged as truck loses load on N2 near Mtubatuba

The looters appeared seemingly out of nowhere, loading crates of beer into their bakkies and panel vans

FREE beers were the order of the day for many people in Mtubatuba today (Tuesday), after a delivery truck veered off the road and lost its load.

The incident occurred early this morning on the N2, at Shikshela area, about 10km north of Mtubatuba.

According to one of the two drivers who had been asleep on the passenger coach bed at the time, the truck started to veer off the road and when the driver corrected, the truck lost its load.

‘When we came to a standstill, the scene was chaotic as people appeared out of nowhere, some in their bakkies, to help themselves to crates of beer,’ said Sbonelo Dube, one of the drivers.

Mtubatuba SAPS and traffic police quickly arrived on the scene, causing the looters to flee.
