Tanzanian man beaten up in Richards Bay CBD

The motive for the beating is yet to be established

POLICE are investigating a case of assault after a Tanzanian man was badly beaten at Taxi City in Richards Bay and left fighting for his life in the road in Wednesday’s heat after he fled his attackers and collapsed.

A passerby first spotted what he thought was a body lying at the intersection of Guldengracht Street and Bullion Boulevard at about 1.30pm.

Richards Bay police were alerted and immediately dispatched a vehicle.

Finding the man still alive, albeit barely, police officers contacted EMS for an ambulance which, two hours later according to the officers, was yet to be dispatched from Ngwelezana Hospital.
