POLICE arrested five people for public violence at Nseleni Township on Monday morning.

This is after the Ward 8 residents staged a protest against their Councillor Thabisile Wanda.

They threatened to make the city of uMhlathuze ungovernable if Mayor Mdu Mhlongo and Speaker Silondile Mkhize refused to attend to their grievances, but when Mkhize arrived the protestors refused to move to the sports field to allow her to address them.

Police intervene and disperse them with rubber bullets and teargas.
