Murder accused remains in jail

MXOLISI Mjadu (23), a local man accused of brutally killing four people including a two-year-old girl in Mpembeni, will remain in police custody until his next court appearance.

Mjadu briefly appearance for the second time at eSikhawini Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and his case was remanded until Wednesday, 26 June.

He was arrested last Sunday, a month after unknown assassins opened fire at the Ncube residence, killing Lungani Biyela (25), Bheki Ntuli (30) and Angel Ncube (2).

The family house was then torched but miraculously two other relatives in the house survived the shooting and managed to escape the blaze.

Following the family massacre, it was reported that the assassins proceeded to Dion Tavern where they allegedly shot and killed a Grade 12 pupil from eMabuyeni High School, Sanele Mthiyane (19).

Even though the incident claimed four lives, Mjadu has only been charged with three murders, arson and two counts of attempted murder.
