VIDEO: Classes suspended amid Unizulu student protests

Watch as students set police car on fire

A POLICE vehicle was torched and other structures destroyed as violent student protests continued today at the University of Zululand’s (Unizulu) KwaDlangezwa campus.

Angry students are protesting over several issues, including the rejection of the appointed Students’ Representative Council (SRC) administrator, the SRC budget for postgraduate studies, security for students living off campus and increments for societies’ budget.

Police are currently on scene to monitor the situation.

No injuries have been reported, but a case of malicious damage to property has been opened.

All classes have been suspended.
