Buchanana man beaten and thrown into dam

FATIMA residents near Buchanana are living in fear following the death of Melusi Shezi, who was brutally attacked and assaulted by three unknown men on Sunday night.
According to reports, Shezi (39) was walking with his friend when they were confronted by three men armed with sticks.

They started beating Shezi mercilessly. His friend managed to escape, and after the beating Shezi was thrown into a nearby dam.
Community members found him struggling in the water and he was rushed to the clinic, where he was declared dead on arrival.
The attack came after a community crime meeting held at the Fatima sport field on Sunday.
Three homesteads believed to be housing criminals were apparently identified, including Shezi’s homestead.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, said a case of murder was opened at the Buchanana police station.
