Wedding-goers arrested near Richards Bay amid lockdown clampdown

Fifty people including the bride, groom, pastor and wedding guests were arrested

A BRIDE, groom, their pastor and wedding guests were arrested in eNseleni earlier today (Sunday) for defying lockdown regulations by attending the gathering.

The couple will spend their honeymoon under strict bail conditions and their case will go to court once lockdown has been lifted.

All 50 arrested were taken to Empangeni Police Station for their cases to be registered.

They were charged with contravening the National Disaster Act and for defying lockdown regulations.

This weekend’s clampdown by authorities, including the City of uMhlathuze law enforcement unit, SANDF and SAPS, saw scores of arrests made throughout the city, with six arrested for selling liquor.
