No relief for residents seeking City of uMhlathuze services
The City of uMhlathuze offices will remain closed until management is satisfied with the state of readiness
IN a statement that will surely not be well received by the already frustrated public – especially the motor and property sectors – the City of uMhlathuze said late yesterday (Friday) that its offices would remain closed until management is satisfied with the state of readiness.
In a statement, the city said it is gearing up for the risk-adjusted strategic reopening of municipal offices to ensure safety of employees.

‘The City of uMhlathuze has to reconfigure some offices, install perspex screens at front line desks, demarcate for social distancing rules, display awareness information and instructive signage to remind everyone to wear masks, and relay other messages to relevant employees and customers,’ said City of uMhlathuze communications manager, Mdu Ncalane.
‘The state of readiness also includes the screening of staff members in line with the city’s Covid-19 Occupational Health and Safety protocol.
‘Licensing offices will have to be inspected by provincial inspectors for the state of readiness before being given the go-ahead.’
He said the municipality encourages all members of the public, customers and service providers to utilise the 24-hour toll-free line to enquire or to report on any service delivery information.
‘uMhlathuze Municipality will announce through various platforms when and which offices will open first,’ said Ncalane.
Meanwhile, online payment methods and channels have been extended, and pre-paid electricity can be bought at most supermarkets.
