No sale of alcohol on Youth Day
Inspections will be conducted throughout the province to ensure compliance of regulations
AS the country gears up to commemorate Youth Day tomorrow (Tuesday), liquor outlets in KZN have been reminded that the sale of alcohol is prohibited on public holidays.
KZN MEC for Economic Development, Nomusa Dube-Ncube, has warned that inspections will be conducted throughout the province tomorrow and over the next few weeks to ensure compliance with the lockdown regulations.

According to Level 3 regulations, the sale of liquor is prohibited on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and on public holidays.
‘Tomorrow we will pay tribute to young people who laid down their lives in order for me and you to be free.
‘We will also reflect on programmes aimed at ensuring young people continue to be agents of change,’ said Dube-Ncube.
‘Any licence holder found violating the regulations or selling liquor in contravention of the KZN Liquor Licensing Act, faces a suspension of his or her licence until the end of lockdown or for three months,’ the MEC said.
A total of 1 447 liquor traders across the province have been visited in the past two weeks to monitor compliance.
