With love – from one school to another

The Wykeham Collegiate in Pietermaritzburg donated computers and PPE to an impoverished Manguzi school

WYKEHAM Collegiate (TWC), a Pietermaritzburg-based private school for girls, recently embarked on a field trip for a worthy cause.

Twenty computers, 600 face masks and shields, and other personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as 200 blankets and 100 food parcels, were donated to the staff and pupils of Ekuthukuzeni Primary School in Manguzi.

This donation formed part of TWC’s blanket drive, and the food parcels were generously donated by TWC parents and board members.

But the main aim of the visit was to set up a computer lab for the pupils.

A quintile two school with 80% of the pupils’ parents unemployed and unable to pay school fees, Ekuthukuzeni’s computers were recently stolen.

After the burglary, the school created a safe burglar-proof lab, but was unable to afford new equipment.

As part of TWC’s blanket drive, 200 blankets were donated to staff, pupils and their families
