This precautionary measure – there are no reported Covid-19 cases at present – is to ensure that those visiting the municipality as well as officials, councillors and staff remain safe from being infected or spreading the virus.

ZDM municipal manager Mr ZW Mcineka said the precautionary measure is being adopted owing to the fact that many municipalities within the district as well as surrounding municipalities have recorded positive cases.

Residents are advised not to visit the municipality but to call the offices for any queries.

The municipality is still awaiting results from the lab for those who have been tested.

The municipal manager stressed that all essential services staff will still be working to ensure the delivery of water and other essential services remain a priority during this period.

He further emphasised that the municipality will be undergoing a deep cleaning sanitation process and that strict social distancing measures will be enforced, as well as hand sanitisers, water and soap being made available to all employees and those who visit the municipality.

Persons not wearing masks are not allowed to enter municipal buildings, as dictated by the national regulations.
